Solva · Founder walkthrough

A day with Solva, on your phone

Thursday 5 November 2026 · Allow 45–60 minutes, with a little extra time if you can try recovery on another device.

This is a rehearsal with made-up information. We’re checking whether Solva is comfortable to use and whether your work stays safe—not how quickly you can finish a checklist.

Test build: TEST-20261104-A

Open the Solva phone test. Use made-up details only. Check the latest Founder Brief or our chat for confirmation that the hosted checks have passed before you begin. This test is not approved for real customer work.

The tick boxes and notes below are for this open page only; they are not submitted or automatically saved. Print this guide or save your results in your own notes before closing it.

Before you begin

1 · Make yourself at home · about 5 minutes

Start a test business

  1. Open the supplied verified link while connected to the internet. You should see a notice identifying a synthetic-data test candidate. The app may still say Prototype v1.1; the supplied build label identifies the tested candidate.
  2. If a welcome panel appears, close it. Choose Set up Business, rather than Start Demo.
  3. Enter THURSDAY TEST Cleaning as the business name. Leave email and phone empty. Tap Start with defaults.
  4. Open Calendar, Clients, Invoices and Settings from the bottom navigation. A new business should have no example customers, visits or invoices.
  5. Close and reopen the same browser/app using the same link. If you land on the welcome page, choose Open THURSDAY TEST Cleaning.
You should see: your saved business, clear navigation and an empty starting point. Buttons should remain reachable when the keyboard is open. No sideways scrolling should be needed.

2 · Remember the little details · about 5 minutes

Add one made-up client

  1. Open Clients → New Client.
  2. Enter name Aroha Thursday Test, address 1 Example Street. Leave phone/email empty.
  3. Keep Home Clean as the default service. Change Default Price to 50.00. Frequency can be Weekly.
  4. In Notes, enter TEST ONLY — prefers unscented products. Leave property/access/alarm/key fields blank.
  5. Tap Add Client, then open the saved client. Confirm the name, address, price and note.
You should see: one saved client with the details you entered. Typing, scrolling down the form and saving should feel comfortable on your phone.

3 · Plan the week ahead · about 10 minutes

Book a visit and the next four

  1. Open Calendar → Add Visit. Choose Aroha Thursday Test and Home Clean.
  2. Use the phone’s date picker to choose 5 November 2026, time 9:00am, duration 60 minutes. Enter Bring test supplies in Notes. Tap Save Visit.
  3. Find the saved visit and tap its main card to open Visit Details. Check the date/time/duration before continuing. Use the week arrows if necessary.
  4. Tap Repeat visit. Choose Weekly and 4 additional visits. Read the date preview before tapping Add 4 visits once.
  5. Visit the later weeks using the week arrows. Confirm the four copies listed below. Including the original, there should be five visits.
  6. Open the 19 November copy, choose Edit, add This note is only for 19 November, and save. Check a different copy: its note should still say Bring test supplies.
  7. Open the 26 November copy and choose Mark as Cancelled. Check the other copies remain scheduled.
  8. Return to the original 5 November visit. Reopen Repeat visit with Weekly / 4 additional visits. It should explain the visits already exist and show Add 0 visits disabled, including the cancelled copy. Close the panel.
VisitDateAfter these steps
OriginalThu 5 NovScheduled
Copy 1Thu 12 NovScheduled
Copy 2Thu 19 NovScheduled, changed note
Copy 3Thu 26 NovCancelled
Copy 4Thu 3 DecScheduled
You should see: five visits, no duplicates, and a change/cancellation affecting only its chosen visit. Weekly repeats are a batch you confirm, not an ongoing automatic booking.

4 · Finish the work and the paperwork · about 10 minutes

Create one invoice, for $50

  1. Open the original 5 November visit and choose Mark as Completed. This is a pretend visit for the test.
  2. Open Invoices. It should still be empty: marking work complete does not create an invoice.
  3. Open Settings → Business Profile. In Payment / bank details enter TEST ONLY — DO NOT PAY. Tap Save Profile. Do not enter a real bank account.
  4. Return to Invoices → New Invoice. Choose Aroha Thursday Test. Make sure the From/To dates include 5 November; use 5 November for both to keep the test clear.
  5. Tap Auto-fill from Completed Visits. There should be one line at 50.00. Keep GST off. Check the draft total is 50.00 NZD. If testing on 5 November with defaults, the due date should be 12 November.
  6. Tap Create Invoice. Record the invoice number; a new empty business should start at INV-001.
  7. Before marking it sent, return to New Invoice for the same client/date range and tap Auto-fill from Completed Visits. That visit should no longer be available. The test must not create a second invoice. Close the new-invoice form.
  8. Open the original invoice and tap Download PDF. Find it in your phone’s Files/Downloads and open it. Check the name/address, visit, dates, invoice number, $50 total and TEST ONLY payment instruction. Look for cut-off or strange text. Do not send it.
  9. Back in Solva, tap Mark as sent manually, then Mark as paid manually. These are pretend statuses: no payment is made. The Edit draft output action should no longer be available.
  10. Close and reopen Solva. Confirm there is one $50 invoice marked Paid.
If you cannot find the PDF

On iPhone, check Safari’s download indicator, then Files → Browse → Downloads (the configured location may be iCloud Drive or On My iPhone). On Android, check your browser’s Downloads or the Files app. Locations vary; note what happened rather than downloading repeatedly. If the PDF did not save or open, mark that part Fail.

You should see: one accurate invoice, a readable saved PDF and a paid status that survives reopening. Solva should not claim to have emailed anything or confirmed money in a bank.

5 · Take it offline · about 5 minutes

Come back to your saved work

  1. While connected, open Settings. Wait until it says Offline reopening ready on this browser. If it does not appear, record that and stop this section.
  2. Return to Calendar and make sure no form is open. Enable airplane mode and ensure Wi-Fi is also off.
  3. Close Solva normally, then reopen the same browser/app using the same link or saved Home Screen icon. Do not clear site data.
  4. Open Calendar, Clients and Invoices. Check the test client, visits and paid $50 invoice. Try opening the invoice and downloading its PDF offline once.
  5. Turn your connection back on. Reopen Solva and check records again.
You should see: your prepared app and saved records while offline. First-ever use needs a connection. Record separately if offline reopening works but the PDF download does not.

6 · Keep a copy you can come back to · about 10 minutes

Save a backup and restore a separate business

  1. While online, open Settings → Backups. The section is headed Backups and saved businesses.
  2. Tap Prepare backup file. Find the actual JSON file in Files/Downloads. The app saying “prepared” does not prove it was saved. Note the filename/location below.
  3. Keep a copy somewhere private you can reach away from this phone, using your own trusted storage or file transfer. This test contains made-up data; real backups are readable confidential files, not encrypted or automatically copied by Solva. Do not email the file to us.
  4. In Solva, use Choose backup file to select that file. Check the preview says your test business, 1 client · 5 visits · 1 invoice. Note the export date.
  5. Choose Cancel restore. Your business should be unchanged.
  6. Select the same file again, then tap Restore as a new business. A separate copy should open.
  7. Check the restored client/address/$50 price; the five visit dates, completed original, changed note and cancelled copy; the paid invoice/number/$50 total; and TEST ONLY payment instruction. Do not settle for checking the business name alone.
  8. Return to Settings → Backups. Under Saved businesses on this phone, choose the original business and tap Open selected business. Confirm it still has the same records. If both copies have the same name and you cannot tell which is original, record that as a usability issue rather than guessing or deleting one.
You should see: a real saved backup file, a separate matching restored business, and the untouched original. Copies do not stay in sync. Do not erase records to prove this test.

7 · A replacement-phone rehearsal · if a second device is available

Try the file away from the original browser

  1. Use a second phone or another clean, supported browser profile where this Solva link has never stored records. Leave the original phone/browser alone. Do not use private mode or clear an existing profile.
  2. Open the same verified test link while online. Close the welcome panel if necessary.
  3. From the start page, expand Restore a backup or open another business, select your saved synthetic backup, review the counts and choose Restore as a new business.
  4. Check the client, five visits and one paid $50 invoice against the saved original. Check that the original phone still has its business.
  5. Record the second device/browser. This restored copy will not synchronise back to the first phone.

If no second clean device/browser is available, mark Not tested. A same-phone restore does not prove replacement-phone recovery. We will keep that limit explicit.

8 · Optional checks, then one quick return visit

Home Screen, updates and the next morning

Installation: only if you expect to use Solva from your Home Screen. On iPhone, use Safari’s Share menu → Add to Home Screen; on Android, your browser’s Install app / Add to Home screen option if offered. Open the icon and check what records are visible. Installed mode can behave differently: do not assume it shares the browser’s records. If empty, record it and use a fresh test business or a synthetic backup—never clear either mode.

Updates: if Solva actually offers an update, save and close forms, close other Solva windows and follow Settings’ update action. Check records afterwards. If no update is offered, write Not tested; don’t manufacture one.

Next morning: reopen the same mode, check the client/visits/paid invoice and locate the saved backup again. Note whether opening felt comfortably quick; an approximate observation is enough.

9 · Send one simple result

What worked? What got in your way?

Copy this into our chat, with notes or a screenshot if something failed. Only share made-up test data. Don’t send a backup, password, bank information or real client details.

Keep test records until any problem is investigated. Passing this walkthrough contributes release evidence; it does not publish the site, authorise payment collection or prove customer demand.
